The Irony Party of Australia, though not in the strictest sense an official political organisation, nevertheless represents the fledgling efforts and collusion of some of Australia's most rarefied minds in pursuit of the highest and most onerous offices of Government. Initially our philosophies and policies will clearly reflect the high ideals which we believe carry the greatest kuidos in the Australian community. We will speak out strongly and candidly in favour of expensive community based . policies, advocate sweeping changes to the electoral system, lament hopelessly denuded and absurdly monarchic structures of judiciary and legislature, support ecological protection, provision for continual constitutional revision, cultural revolution, and the decriminalisation of drugs, dissent, defamation, and free exchange. We'll pose difficult and profane conundra in high Socratic style and issue withering declamations on matters of power, onus, and privilege. In addition we will firmly argue against the entrenchment of massive political organisations in Parliament, and publically denounce sloganeering and flagrant electoral self promotion as often and loudly as possible in as many fora as we can gain access to.. Private ownership and profiteering will be called into question whereever the public are directly or indirectly affected or the continuation of reasonable and ethical civilisation is perceived as under threat. Commercial monopolisation and manipulation will come under seige, with the crude and fabulous rhetoric of the spectacularly uninventive incumbents themselvess to provide the meat of our assault. Derision and by spokespersons of this organisation, and the degradation of culture through the brutal imposition of indiscriminate materialism will be the subject of savage press releases, letters to the editor, and widely distributed pamphlets. Affiliated unreservedly with all those at odds with the existing order, the Irony Party begins by professing adherence to all things civil and libertarian and by condemning outright the needless acquisition of wealth, the appropriation of public institutions, and the gradual subversion of democratic ideals, all realised by the steady incremental growth of the influence of moguls, Maligants, and moneymen.
